Bio

Ellen Flynn has extensive experience litigating complex personal injury, medical negligence and commercial cases in the state and federal courts of Maryland, the District of Columbia and Connecticut. She currently serves as the President of the Board of Governors for the Maryland Association for Justice (formerly the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association). She is also Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Trial Reporter, and frequent contribution author.

Prior to focusing her practice on representation of victims of medical malpractice, Ellen has both litigated against and defended health care providers and hospitals in medical negligence cases. This provides her with a unique perspective on the medical and legal issues that are at the foundation of medical malpractice litigation. Ellen enjoys the challenges of medical negligence cases involving such complex medical issues as cauda equina syndrome, spinal fusion surgery, maternal hypertensive disorders during pregnancy; anesthesia accidents; placental abruption; premature labor and delivery; neonatal hypoxic brain injury; neonatal encephalopathy; vaginal hysterectomy; cancer misdiagnosis and delay in diagnosis and treatment; injuries related to undiagnosed or misdiagnosed sepsis and infection; anaphylaxis; pulmonary embolism; delay in diagnosis and treatment of stroke and other cerebral accidents; failure to perform a proper code response; nursing home negligence; wound and fall prevention; and gastric surgery injuries.

Ellen received her undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Richmond in 1991, and her Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 1996. During law school, Ellen was recognized for her academic achievements as a Note and Comment Editor of the Law Review and a Vice Chancellor of the Moot Court. Ellen also obtained a prestigious clerkship at the Administrative Offices of the United States Courts.

Ellen is barred in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Connecticut and has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the United States Supreme Court. Ellen is an active member of the Maryland Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the American Bar Association. She has been recognized by the United States District Court for the District of Maryland for her pro bono representation of the underprivileged.
