He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Specialist and Civil Pre-Trial Specialist since 1995 by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. His practice is restricted to personal injury law. He is a Charter Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Buffalo Chapter; a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and former President of the local chapter, Western Regional Affiliate; Inns of Court, former President, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in America.

Mr. Hayes He is an adjunct professor at SUNY at Buffalo, School of Law; is a frequent lecturer and has presented seminars for the New York State Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy on Trial Technique, Punitive Damages, the Labor Law and Assumption of Risk and Discovery. Additionally he is the author of " New York Motor Vehicle Accidents",
