P. Matthew Darby is a partner with the firm of Berman, Sobin, Gross, Feldman & Darby, L.L.P.  He is a graduate of Loyola University and the University of Maryland School of Law, where he served on the Journal of International Law & Trade and the Moot Court Board.  He is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys.  Mr. Darby is a former member of the Maryland  Association for Justice Board of Governors and was the founding Chair of the Association’s Workers’ Compensation Committee.  He is admitted to practice in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

 

Mr. Darby was appointed by the Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates and the President of the Maryland Senate to serve on the Maryland Workers’ Compensation and Insurance Oversight Committee of the Maryland General Assembly.  He was also appointed by the Chairman of the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission to serve as the representative of the Claimant’s Bar on the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Medical Fee Guide Committee and the Cost Drivers Task Force.  He serves as Designated Legal Counsel for the United Transportation Union, the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen and the Sheet Metal Workers International Association.  He has served frequently as a lecturer regarding Maryland Workers’ Compensation and personal injury, the Federal Employers’ Liability Act and the Federal Rail Safety Act.  Mr. Darby serves on the Board of Directors of Kid’s Chance of Maryland and the Howard Hero’s Fund.

 

Mr. Darby was chosen by Baltimore Magazine as one of Maryland’s “Superlawyers” for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, 2014, 2015.  He has achieved the AV Predominate Rating – the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbel and was included in the National Trial Lawyers’ Top 100 Trial Lawyers for 2012 and 2013.
