Bio

Ted B. Lyon, Jr. was born and raised in Terrell, Texas. He graduated from East Texas State University—now Texas A&M Commerce—with a political science degree. Before law school, Ted married his high school sweetheart, Donna, with whom he has two sons, Ted and Payton. Ted worked as a police officer while pursuing his undergraduate degree, and he later attended Southern Methodist University School of Law.

Ted built his reputation representing regular people and small businesses injured by big corporations. Ted has over 40 years’ experience representing clients in complex litigations, settlement negotiations, and in more than 150 jury trials in Texas and across the nation. Ted has broken nationwide verdict records and received verdicts ranked in the Top 10 nationally on three separate occasions.

A former Texas Senator, State Representative, and police officer, Ted is a distinguished trial lawyer with a lifetime commitment to helping his clients. For his work as a trial lawyer, Ted has been featured in local and national media coverage, including: Good Morning America, 60 Minutes II, NBC Dateline, Texas Lawyer, The National Law Journal, Dallas Observer, Attorney at Law Magazine, Texas Monthly, and D Magazine. Ted specializes in complex litigation involving personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, and toxic torts. Ted also has a unique ability to connect with a jury in the courtroom and simplify incredibly complex cases into a clear picture of the defendant’s liability. Ted has repeatedly been named a Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly, and, consecutively since 2007, has been named one of the Top 100 Lawyers in America by American Trial Lawyers Association.

Ted is also an avid outdoorsman, having been on three African Safaris as well as numerous trips to Canada and Alaska. Ted recently co-authored an Amazon best-selling book, “The Real Wolf,” concerning the destruction of big game herds and livestock suffered by ranchers as a result of the introduction of Canadian Grey wolves into the United States in 1995 and 1996. Ted handled a case for 13 wildlife conservation groups in 2010 and 2011 and documented it in the book.
