Bio

With over 30 years of experience, Attorney Thomas Balerud is known as a fighter in the courtroom. He will not hesitate to take on difficult cases and powerful adversaries. He has successfully represented clients in both civil and criminal cases in Federal, Tribal and State Courts. Today he focuses exclusively on Personal Injury law.

Mr. Balerud graduated from Seattle University Law School in 1989 while working full time as a paralegal with a prestigious personal injury law firm. Upon graduation he opened a small firm in the greater Tacoma area with three other lawyers. A few years into his practice, he and his family were involved in a freeway collision on their way to Mariner’s game. Experiencing the insurance system’s tactics firsthand galvanized him to become a passionate advocate for his personal injury clients. After 17 years as a senior partner, Mr. Balerud opened his own law office in Tacoma and together with his dedicated staff, Mr. Balerud diligently represents clients in a wide range of personal injury matters throughout Western Washington.

Outside of the office, Mr. Balerud is an active member of the Tacoma Pierce County Bar association and the WSBA. He is an avid outdoorsman and takes advantage of the beautiful pacific northwest summers. Along with hunting, boating, and fishing, he works with native tribes to restore fish habitats and enjoys spending time at his mountain cabin with his wife and their four grown-up children.
