Bio

Aubrey “Nick” Pittman is the managing partner of The Pittman Law Firm, P.C.  His practice is concentrated in counseling and litigation in a variety of legal matters involving personal injury, premises liability, complex commercial litigation, product liability, patent infringement, trademark infringement, copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, antitrust, sports and entertainment, and other matters.  He has represented clients in state courts and in federal trial courts throughout the country.

He has served as counsel in landmark decisions in state courts, the Fifth Circuit, the Ninth Circuit, the Third Circuit and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, where his cases have helped shape the law.

He received a Masters of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University and a juris doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law.  He has been inducted into the International Order of Barristers and is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and state courts in Oklahoma and Texas. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

He has been routinely selected as a Super Lawyer in the nationally acclaimed Law & Politics Magazine.  He was recognized for his contributions to the profession when he was named by the Texas Young Lawyers Association as the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the year for the entire State of Texas.  The Dallas Young Lawyers Association also named him the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year.  Pittman served for over 10 years on the Advisory Committee for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas and has served on both the Magistrate Selection and the Magistrate Reappointment Committees for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

He is a member of the State Bars of Oklahoma and Texas, the National and American Bar Associations, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Bar Association. He is a former Chair of the Dallas Bar Association’s Business Litigation Section (the largest section of the DBA) and has also served on and/or led bar association committees including, but not limited to, the Business Litigation, Antitrust, and Intellectual Property Committees.  He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He served on the Board of Governors for the Dallas Symphony Association, the Ford Foundation, and the CAAPCO Foundation.  He is a former president of the J. L. Turner Legal Association and founder/former chair of the J. L. Turner Legal Association Foundation.

Pittman was a moot court and mock trial coach for over 12 years at the University of Texas School of Law and Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he taught trial and appellate advocacy to hundreds of students and was one of the most successful instructors in the country in leading students to regional and national championships. Pittman has written numerous papers and is a sought out speaker at seminars across the country on a wide range of legal topics including trial skills, commercial litigation, intellectual property, personal injury, product liability, entertainment law and other business disputes.
