Raymond P. Niro, Jr. consistently ranks among the top IP trial attorneys in the country. Over the course of his career, Niro has served as lead counsel in dozens of high-profile cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and unfair competition claims.

In the past several years, Niro has won a string of multimillion-dollar jury verdicts, including two among the Top 100 Verdicts in the country. On September 18, 2019, Niro achieved a judgment of $ 4.3 million dollars (after a jury verdict of willful patent infringement) for Chicago-based Kolcraft Enterprises. On October 5, 2015, Niro won a $ 54 million jury award for his client Black & Decker on the yellow and black color scheme for its DeWalt line of power tools – – one of the largest trademark infringement verdicts in history. In Niro’s first trial as lead counsel 20 years ago, he obtained a jury verdict of $ 2.1 million for Chicago company Control Alt Design, where the jury also found willful infringement, allowing the court to increase damages to $ 6.3 million. Before that, Niro served on the litigation teams in a number of successful jury verdicts ranging from $ 2.0 million to $ 48.7 million.
